Tobacco

Southern Arizona Tobacco Education Programs

In collaboration with Pima County Health Department’s Tobacco Free Ways, the American Lung Association is currently providing tobacco prevention education and curriculum to the Ajo, Continental, Sahuarita, and Tanque Verde School Districts. This curriculum is offered to all 4 th, 5 th, 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th grade students in these Pima County school districts. Teachers are recruited to teach 3 to 10 lessons from either the Get Real About Tobacco or Project Alert Curriculums. Often times many of our teachers expand on these curriculums and continue the education to include anti-tobacco poster contests, short skits, and tobacco presentations from outside organizations. We are proud to have served over 1,500 students in the 2004-2005 school year.
