Clean Air in Arizona

The American Lung Association’s 2007 State of the Air Report shows that:

• Tucson was named one of the U.S. Cleanest Cities for Long-Term Particle Pollution; the U.S. Cleanest Cities for Short-Term Particle Pollusion; and as one of the U.S. Cleanest Cities for Ozone Pollution


• The following Arizona counties were listed on the Cleanest Counties for Short-Term Particle Pollution list:
  • Cochise
  • Coconino
  • Gila
  • Pima


• The following Arizona counties tied for #22 on the U.S. Cleanest Counties for Long-Term Particle Pollution list:
  • Coconino
  • Pima


• The following Arizona counties were listed on the Cleanest Counties for Ozone Air Pollution list
  • Cochise
  • Navajo
  • Yavapai


• Maricopa County is the Arizona county with the worst Particle pollution and worst Ozone pollution.
