Better Breathers Support Group
Join our FREE support group for individuals dealing with chronic bronchitis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), emphysema or asthma. Our staff and guest speakers provide support and information to help you improve your health, and it's a great opportunity to make friends and share tips with others who, like you, care about better health.
Better Breathers meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month September through May. We host an educational speaker each time. Meetings are held at the American Lung Association of Arizona at 2819 E. Broadway in Tucson (our offices are on the north side of Broadway, between Tucson Blvd. and Country Club).
Guest presenters discuss a different topic each month. Some topics will include:
- The normal respiratory system and COPD
- Medications, use of oxygen / breathing equipment
- Building strength via exercise and good nutrition
- Traveling with lung disease
- Positive outlooks, relaxation techniques, recognizing and seeking treatment for depression
- Preventing and controlling infection; when to seek treatment
- Working effectively with one's doctor
Patients, family members and caregivers are all welcome -- please call (520) 323-1812 or email infotucson@lungarizona.org with your name and address, and we'll mail you a reminder one week prior to each gathering, with information about that meeting's topic and speaker. Members may bring their lunch or dinner; beverages and dessert are provided.
