Andrea Cooper, Ph.D. of the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, New York, is the current recipient of this $100,000 award. She is studying Mycobacterium avium. The DeSouza Research Award focuses on one or more of three areas of interest: bronchiectasis; infection with atypical Mycobacteria, particularly Mycobacterium Avium; and infection with Nocardia species. The award supports clinical, laboratory, or epidemiological research relating
to these three conditions. Duration: up to three years.
